AI-native software delivery · Aotearoa New Zealand
Custom software, produced on a line. We take a clear brief and hand back working, enterprise-grade software in weeks — at a fraction of what an agency quotes, onshore, with your name on the IP and ours on the accountability.
The line
No discovery phase that bills for months, no black box. You can see exactly where your work is, what happens next, and what it costs before it starts.
You bring the problem. We qualify it and agree the outcome.
A working session, not a discovery phase. We establish what the software has to do, who uses it, what it integrates with, and what 'done' looks like in measurable terms.
We write the specification. You own it, whatever happens next.
Priced separately and delivered as a standalone artefact: data model, screens, integrations, edge cases, and a fixed build quote against it. If you take it to another firm, it still works.
The line runs. You see working software early and often.
AI does the production — scaffolding, CRUD, integrations, variants, iteration. Humans own the architecture, the judgement calls, and the review. You get a running environment from week two, not a demo at the end.
Every change passes the same gates before it ships.
Automated test and visual-regression gates, a security review, and a named human sign-off on every merge. Nothing reaches your environment because it looked plausible.
Deployed, documented, and handed over. You own all of it.
Code, IP, infrastructure, and runbooks are yours in full. Maintainable by any competent team — no lock-in to us, and no platform to keep paying for.
The spec is priced and delivered separately, and it's yours whatever you do next. If you take it to another firm, it still works. We think that's the fairest way to quote a fixed price on something nobody has built yet.
Why we call it a factory
Software used to be built the way furniture was before factories: one craftsperson, one bench, one commission at a time. Slow, expensive, and only good if you got the right person on the right day.
We know that because we ran that bench. Software Factory is the tech arm of a Wellington workshop that makes physical things — and that workshop went from hand tools to CNC, from one-offs to repeatable production, years before AI made the same shift possible in software.
The lesson transferred exactly. A factory isn't about volume. It's about knowing that the hundredth part comes out the same as the first — because the jig, the tooling, and the checks make it so.
What that means for your build
Scaffolding, integrations, CRUD, variants and iteration run on the line. What to build, how it should work, and whether it's right stays with a named human.
Automated tests, visual-regression checks and a security review run on every change. Nothing ships because it looked plausible.
Code, IP, infrastructure and runbooks, in full. Maintainable by any competent team — no lock-in to us or to a platform.
What you're buying
A repeatable line with standardised inputs, consistent tooling, and measurable output. Every build follows the same path from brief to ship — so throughput is predictable and quality doesn't depend on who's on the job.
Security, maintainability, and IP ownership are built into the line, not bolted on afterwards. Your engineering lead and your risk team get the same answers, in writing, before you sign.
No platform to adopt, no team to hire, no tool to learn. A named team runs the line and is accountable for the outcome. You buy working software, not a licence and a training plan.
New Zealand-based delivery, data that stays onshore, and real accountability. Offshore pricing without the timezone drag, the quality lottery, or the sovereignty problem.
The alternatives
There are four ways to get custom software built right now. Here's the honest comparison.
| Option | What you get | With us |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional agencies | Bill you for the hours. | We bill you for the software. |
| AI dev platforms | Sell you a factory to run yourself. | We run the factory for you. |
| Offshore teams | Cheap, remote, and your data leaves the country. | Same price, onshore, your data stays here. |
| DIY with AI tools | Hire, tool up, build the process, own the risk. | The line already runs. Today. |
Tell us what the software has to do. You'll get a straight answer on whether it's a fit, what it would take, and roughly what it costs — before anyone books a workshop.
